The 800 Trust is a New Zealand conservation charitable trust based in the remote hill country of Eastern Taranaki. We restore native biodiversity, protect threatened species, empower communities and build new solutions to some of the hardest problems in conservation.
Our work began with a simple belief: even in some of New Zealand’s most challenging landscapes, determined people working together can make an extraordinary difference.
Today our conservation work covers about 1,480 hectares of land we protect, and it reaches into the surrounding landscape through partnerships and shared projects. This is rugged country. Native forest, rivers and steep hills give habitat to some of New Zealand’s most remarkable wildlife.
It is also a landscape under pressure. Introduced predators, browsing animals, habitat loss and the difficulty of watching over vast remote areas make conservation hard. We didn’t accept those limits. We set out to find better ways to work.

Because species cannot advocate for themselves.
Because biodiversity loss affects every generation that follows.
Because it is still possible to restore what has been damaged.
